POWER SYSTEM STUDIES

The electrical power system is the backbone of every process plant — determining not just whether a facility can operate, but whether the plant can operate safely, reliably, continuously, and within the envelope that protects people and equipment across every condition the system will encounter. Inadequate power system analysis carries real consequences: protective devices operating out of sequence, undersized circuit breakers, and switching overvoltages exceeding insulation limits. These are recurring outcomes, not theoretical risks.

WHAT WE DO

JEF delivers two complementary categories of power system analysis, covering both system-wide behaviour and high-frequency transient phenomena:

Power System Studies - Steady-state and dynamic analysis using ETAP, PSS®E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory and SKM for Load flow, short circuit, Motor starting, Harmonic analysis, Protection coordination, Arc flash assessment, Transient stability & Load shedding studies

Electromagnetic Transient and Insulation Coordination Studies - High-fidelity time-domain simulation using PSCAD/EMTDC: Switching overvoltages, Temporary Overvoltages (TOV), Transient Recovery Voltage (TRV), Fast Transients (FTO / VFTO), Ferroresonance, Transformer energisation.

WHY JEF

FULL STUDY RANGE, SINGLE ACCOUNTABLE TEAM

1. FULL STUDY RANGE, SINGLE ACCOUNTABLE TEAM

From ETAP-based steady-state studies to PSCAD electromagnetic transient analysis, we deliver the complete study programme end-to-end — with one team responsible for both the analysis and the engineering outcomes.

SOFTWARE INDEPENDENCE

2. SOFTWARE INDEPENDENCE

ETAP, PSCAD/EMTDC, PSS/E, DIgSILENT, SKM, and DSA Tools — no software constraint on what we can offer or how we work.

OIL AND GAS SECTOR DEPTH

3. OIL AND GAS SECTOR DEPTH

Offshore platforms, subsea cables, high-voltage GIS, complex multi-source networks. We know the operating environment and the standards that govern it.

STANDARDS-REFERENCED DELIVERABLES

4. STANDARDS-REFERENCED DELIVERABLES

Every finding traceable to the specific standard clause that defines the requirement.

METHODOLOGY BEYOND THE MINIMUM

5. METHODOLOGY BEYOND THE MINIMUM

We identify constraints and failure modes beyond standard studies, providing the project team with a complete picture before decisions become irreversible.
